Western Specialty Contractors Completes Interior Wall Repairs at Minneapolis Food Production Facility

Interior wall after repair

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, UNITED STATES, September 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Western Specialty Contractors’ Minneapolis branch has completed an interior wall restoration project at an active food production facility in Minneapolis, MN.

Working as a subcontractor, Western was hired to restore a failing interior wall system within a refrigerated production area. Crews removed the existing wall panels and installed new 4.5-inch-thick insulated and cement board panels. Following installation, Western cleaned the work area, sealed all panel joints and applied a new self-cleaning, breathable coating to complete the wall system.

During demolition, Western uncovered additional damage to the existing concrete masonry unit (CMU) wall behind the panels. The damage from prior vehicle impacts to the wall’s exterior required crews to repair the underlying masonry before the new panel system could be installed.

The active production environment presented another significant challenge. The project was contracted on short notice during the summer and needed to be completed before production increased for the upcoming school year. Because the facility operates around the clock Monday through Friday, Western was permitted to perform the work only on Saturdays and Sundays.

Crews completed the project over three weekends while working inside the facility’s 42-degree refrigerated space. Maintaining a clean work environment was critical, requiring Western to control dust throughout construction and thoroughly clean the work area at the end of each weekend so normal production could resume on Monday.

“Working inside an active food production facility required careful planning and a strong commitment to the schedule,” said David Grandbois, Project Manager at Western Specialty Contractors. “Our crews had a limited window each weekend to complete the work, clean the area and turn the space back over for production. Even after uncovering additional masonry damage during demolition, the team adapted quickly and kept the project moving.”

The project began and was completed in August 2026. Western finished the work on time and within budget to the satisfaction of the project team.
