Video Shows Alex Pretti Clashing with Federal Agents Before His Death

(MENAFN) A recently released video depicts 37-year-old Alex Pretti confronting federal immigration officers on a Minneapolis street 11 days before he was fatally shot during a separate encounter with Customs and Border Protection agents, according to reports.

Pretti, an intensive care nurse, was recorded interacting with uniformed officers on January 13.

A family representative confirmed that Pretti appears in the video and that the family was aware of the earlier incident.

In the footage, Pretti is seen yelling at the agents and kicking the taillight of their vehicle, though the events leading up to the altercation remain unclear. The video shows one agent exiting the vehicle, grabbing Pretti, and bringing him to the ground while bystanders shout, “Stop! Stop!” Other uniformed officers appear to deploy gas or smoke toward the surrounding crowd.

At least three agents struggle to restrain Pretti, but he manages to break free and move toward nearby individuals. At one point, a gun is visible tucked into the back of his waistband, though he does not appear to draw it during the encounter.

A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations is reviewing the footage.

Pretti’s shooting marked the second time this month that a US citizen was fatally shot by federal agents in Minneapolis, intensifying scrutiny from local and state leaders who are calling for independent investigations and questioning federal cooperation with local authorities.
